Big to Small: Designing Model Units

Aside from designing large scale high-rise amenity projects, Design HQ also designs on a micro scale for Model Units of these big properties. These model units showcase tangible aspirational homes for our developer’s clientele reflecting the property’ distinct lifestyle.

As an Interior Design firm with a specialization in notable property developments in the country, high level client experience through meticulous execution is key. It is a fun and exciting challenge for us designers to bring to life the design that aligns with our clients vision in a specific residential space with their target market in mind.

Recently, Design HQ designed Robinsons Land Corporation’s One Bedroom Model Unit of the Sapphire Bloc. Here’s a closer look of the project which was pulled together during the New Normal.

The Sapphire Bloc One Bedroom Model Unit

The Sapphire Bloc One Bedroom Model Unit project is an expression of modern urban design done with Art Deco influence, an extension of the overall Sapphire Bloc aesthetic. The interiors for this project have been thoughtfully designed for a male entrepreneur’s abode in his early thirties. The masculine touch within the space is seen through the dark color palette mixed with touches of leather in every corner, then further elevated by the boldness and richness of the blue and mustard colors paired with gold accents.

Interior Designing in the “New Normal”

From concept boards, to technical drawings, then 3D perspectives, it is always an odyssey of different processes for interior designers to see their visions coming to life. For the Sapphire Bloc One Bedroom Model Unit, the last phase of pulling the home together with our suppliers and contractors during the pandemic made us rethink how to do things we were so familiar with but with a new set of rules and protocols. It was very challenging but also very fulfilling.

The pandemic was something no one had foreseen with everyone caught off guard. Nevertheless, adapting to the “New Normal” had to be done. We had to plan all details in advance and face the new realities head on. In this new context, we carefully planned out how to execute the responsibility to deliver the best of our design services to our clients– from site visits to check on the construction progress to paying attention to details closely by handpicking and sourcing the best accessories that would complete the final touches in the space.

Design HQ’s dealing with the “New Normal” encouraged forward thinking. Prior to interior designers embarking on site visits, sourcing, and styling, we had to undergo a mandatory tests to ensure everyone’s safety. During actual fieldworks, it is always important to follow the protocols like wearing protective gears—both for heal and construction purposes. Every step we take in facing the New Normal we had to ask ourselves how to ensure safety precautionary measures. Also, with social distancing and a maximum headcount in the unit during the process, we had to schedule and monitor different suppliers and workers very closely. It was admittedly slower, but safety comes first for everyone.

The Project in Full Bloom

Amidst the additional precautions and processes, we focused on delivering the best outcome.

With a goal of achieving the design vision echoing the overall Modern Art Deco design look of Sapphire Block in this home for a young male entrepreneur, the design was further enhanced by paying attention to each detail. Each corner was carefully styled with intention. Quality of the materials and pieces delivered were closely monitored. All this done with safety constantly in mind, the team completed the project reflecting what our clients envisioned for their valued customers in this special time of the New Normal.
